Afterpay is available for items listed in most categories on eBay.com.au, between AU $1-$2,000. If an item has Afterpay available, you'll see it as a payment option on the listing page and at checkout.
If the item is eligible for Afterpay, you will see on the listing page that Afterpay is one of the Payment options. Please see sample below:
- How to pay with Afterpay
If Afterpay is available for your eBay purchase, you'll see it as a payment option at checkout. If you don't already have an Afterpay account, you'll be prompted to create one.
Here's how to pay with Afterpay on eBay:
1. At checkout, select Afterpay from the list of payment methods.
2. Review your order and delivery details, then select Pay with Afterpay.
3. Sign in to your Afterpay account, or sign up.
4. Review your instalment plan and payment details with Afterpay.
5. Select Continue to place your order.
If you're using a voucher or an eBay gift card, you can still use Afterpay. Make sure you enter the redemption code(s) and select Apply before finalising your order.
- How does it work for sellers?
If the customer pays an order with Afterpay, eBay will pay the seller via PayPal. Therefore, sellers will receive the payment and/or process refunds via PayPal.
Payments: Customer -> Afterpay -> eBay -> PayPal -> Seller
Refunds: Seller -> PayPal -> eBay -> Afterpay -> Customer
- How does refund work if customers paid with Afterpay?
Since sellers receive payment from eBay in full amount via PayPal, the refund will be processed via PayPal. eBay will coordinate with Afterpay and will refund depending on how much the customer already paid to Afterpay.
EXAMPLE:
If the customer ordered an item worth $100 and used Afterpay to process payment 4 installments of $25 each, eBay will pay the seller with the full amount of $100 via PayPal. If the order is cancelled, the seller will issue a full refund of $100 back to eBay via PayPal. eBay will coordinate with Afterpay to know how much the customer has already paid to Afterpay. If the customer has just finished 2 installments (2 x $25), then eBay will send a refund of $50 to the buyer's Afterpay account.
- How does refund via original payment method works?
Please be advised that we are only able to issue the refund via original payment method. Because eBay has paid us your order via PayPal, we can only issue refund via PayPal. However, please do not worry because eBay will be the one to issue your refund via your Afterpay account. If you have further questions regarding the refund process, you can contact eBay and Afterpay customer service. Thank you for your kind understanding.
